Kumihimo Bracelet - Beginner
Friendly. By Marianne Olbermann

Modernize the ancient art of Japanese braiding and create contemporary jewelry. We'll be using a round foam disk with cords and beads to make this bracelet.

This project works up very quickly, so you will be leaving class with a finished bracelet. Kumihimo takes on a variety of different looks, depending on the beads you choose. Crystals and pearls combined with seed beads create a dressy look; seed beads with flowers and daggers gives you a casual, funky bracelet. Let your imagination and creativity run wild; you'll be pleased with the results. We will also discuss ratios, beads, cords, etc. to assist you in additional Kumihimo projects.

Wire wrapped rings are fun and easy to make once you know the techniques. Students will complete several rings in different styles, all using the same wireworking techniques. Rings will include a simple bead wrap, a 3-bead ring, a charm ring, a love knot ring, and a double wrapped shank ring.
